Intake Appointments

Our intake appointment process is designed to be thorough, collaborative, and family-centered. We begin with a comprehensive consultation to understand the student’s academic history, strengths, challenges, and any prior evaluations or interventions. During this meeting, we gather relevant records, discuss current concerns, and clarify goals to ensure we have a complete picture of the learner’s needs.

As part of the intake, we also conduct a series of screening assessments to establish a clear baseline of the student’s current skills across key academic areas. These screening results help us identify specific skill gaps, confirm strengths, and guide the development of a targeted, individualized intervention plan. We also explain our service options, answer questions, and outline next steps so families leave with a clear understanding of the proposed plan, timelines, and how we will work together to support meaningful, measurable progress.

Standardized Testing

Following the intake appointment, families have the option to move forward with a series of standardized, diagnostic assessments (in reading, mathematics, and/or speech and language) to gain a deeper understanding of their child’s learning profile.

While the initial screening gives us a helpful snapshot of current skills, these comprehensive evaluations allow us to look more closely at specific academic areas, identify underlying skill gaps, and better understand how the student processes and applies information.

This additional insight enables us to design a highly individualized, targeted intervention plan with clear priorities and measurable goals. We walk families through the purpose of each assessment, answer any questions, and ensure they feel informed and comfortable every step of the way.

Through this process, we are able to diagnose or rule out a variety of different learning struggles and developmental language disorders. We also work in partnership with a local educational psychologist to formally diagnose dyslexia and dyscalculia as well as to provide comprehensive psychological evaluations.
